The younger generation has won under the leadership of Nepal Ayurveda Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association. Outgoing president Binod Poudel, who has been leading the party for five terms, has decided to hand over the leadership to the youth.
The association, which has been playing a leading role in the production of Nepali herbal Ayurvedic medicine, has now joined hands with its president Man Bahadur Saud. Khemraj Bhattarai and Chandrakant Khanal, Suman Prasad Pandey as General Secretary, Pitamber Acharya as Secretary, Mahendra Raj Bajracharya as Treasurer and Dr. Suman Poudel’s youth wing has been found unopposed.
Shambhu Agrawal, Buddhiman Shakya, Shivaram Thapa, Suryakrishna Shrestha, Arjun Poudel and Binod Adhikari have also been elected unopposed as members of the 13-member working committee.
According to the constitution of the association, which changes the leadership of the association every two years to create the status of producing Ayurveda medicine worth billions of rupees, the new working committee is dominated by new and enthusiastic youths.
Earlier, Saud was the vice president, Pondy was the general secretary, Khanal was the secretary and Bajracharya was the treasurer. Vice President Bhattarai and Secretary Acharya are the new faces of the association. Similarly, some new faces have been given a chance even among the members. Most of the office bearers and members are young. It is believed that the long experience of running the industry, Josh and Jangar will take the production of Ayurveda medicine to new heights in the coming days.
Dr. Shiva Gyawali and Suraj Bhattarai, members of the constituency headed by Narayan Prasad Aryal, informed that the members of the new working committee have been elected after completing all the procedures of the election. Members Gyawali and Bhattarai suggested all those involved in the field of pharmaceutical production to work together for the realization of their rights.
Outgoing president Binod Poudel, who has been playing an important role in the field of Ayurveda production for a long time, said, “I brought the association to this place out of grief.” Yesterday and today are different. Now, I have dedicated the responsibility of saving the association that has come to the place of producing and selling billions of Ayurvedic medicines to the youth. You have to move forward together, not by breaking up. I have handed over the union to you at a profit, not at a loss. My role must have been positive. ‘
Dec. Reminding that the association, which was established in 2059 BS, has got youth leadership during its 19-year tenure, the founding president Dr. Narayan Prasad Aryal expressed confidence that the association would play a stronger role as the entry of youth in the new working committee was satisfactory in itself.
As soon as he was elected to the program, the newly elected chairman Saud claimed that there was a huge challenge in the field of Ayurveda medicine production in the recent past and they would face it. Saud said, “Of course, in the field of Ayurveda products, we, the producers, are under siege.” Here, the influx of foreign medicines from the government’s rhetoric adds to the challenge. But friends, we do not retreat in fear, we move forward. There are problems, I want to be the president to solve them, and I want to thank all the friends, including the outgoing president, for making it all happen as I wish, ”he added.
Mentioning that his friends have worked hard in the field of Ayurveda production from Butwal, Saud said, “There is a lot of work to be done, we have a platform, the only thing to do is follow-up. We need to fight together on taxes, government policies, rules and customs exemptions. Friends will have to help me with all these issues. Butwal chapter should be made in the coming days, so that it will give more encouragement to the friends working in the field of Ayurveda production. I only want to be president once, then new friends will come. I don’t want to continue in office. ‘
Highlighting the importance of industry, Pandey, the presenter of the program and the newly elected General Secretary, said that the industry was important to confirm the saying, “Do business to earn money, serve the society to get respect, donate to earn religion, do industry to get all these things.”
Senior Ayurveda Physician and Chairman of Singha Durbar Vaidyakhana Development Committee Dr. Baburaja Amatya said that the participation of Ayurvedic medicine producers has given a positive message in this field and added that we should work in the midst of problems.
Amatya said, “Not only you, but also the Singha Durbar Vaidyakhana where I am the president has a problem.” Friends said that if Vaidyakhana had modeled itself by adopting GMP criteria, we could have learned from it. Of course, before I went there, I thought I could do a lot of work. But it is difficult to work in the midst of problems. Therefore, friends, let’s work without being discouraged, it is the responsibility of all of us to produce quality medicine. The future of Ayurveda is bright tomorrow. ‘
Giving congratulatory remarks on the occasion of the inaugural session, the outgoing vice-president of the association Ram Chandra Panthi said that the government act and rules are more annoying than working. He also stressed on the need of uniting all those involved in the field of pharmaceutical production.
Another speaker of the program, Deepak Dahal, former president of the Nepal Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Association, lamented that the members of the association who have been producing Ayurvedic medicines in association with Nepali herbs have been facing more problems than in modern medicine.
